Every once and awhile I stumble across something that gets me super jazzed and beyond inspired. Most recently is was Totokaelo, for their curation of beautiful garments, spot on accessories and clean and simple styling.

NOTED: WHITE-ON-WHITE SNEAKERS

It isn't breaking news that white sneakers are a classic. Keds, Adidas and Converse have been our go-to summer kicks for decades now. But this spring there isn't just one "it sneaker" -  this classic choice of footwear is popping up in all shapes and sizes. They are being worn casual and dressed up, come in a range of off-white and white-white, canvas and leather, chunky and slim and are giving our "Chucks" a run for their money. 

COLD PICNIC AW15

Happy Friday everyone! In the spirit of the weekend, I thought I would bring you something fun today- like boobs! Boobs are fun, right?? Well, whatever your take on that, boobs must be trending because I've seen more than a few nips popping up on prints and textiles here and there. Most recently I came across Cold Picnic's AW15 line of goods, which include a hand-tufted rugs featuring outlines of our more intimate of body parts.

Cold Picnic is a Brooklyn based studio made up of Phoebe Sung and Peter Buer, a pair of friends, roommates, and now business partners, both with backgrounds in fine arts and corporate fashion design. Sung and Buer are influenced by "indigenous crafts, the dusty yet vibrant palettes of 1970s films, and the American natural landscape". Their line of products include handmade jewelry, leather accessories, macrame home goods, and textiles.

I love how they've effortlessly combined modern with bohemian, just following their passions and not taking a stance on one side of the line or the other.  

COPENHAGEN'S ANN VEST

I recently stumbled across this SS 2015 collection by Ann Vest, a contemporary designer from Copenhagen. I was taken by the moody spread filled with structural lines and contrasting organic flow. A combination of things Ann describes as: 

 "A definition of a femme, proud and composed: Emotions lead us to interaction… Expression and mixing styles is encouraged, to challenge sartorial mannerisms within our modern wardrobes."

Minimalissimo points out how, "Anne Vest’s designs blend very natural and sometimes even classic material with contemporary and avant-garde silhouettes...In the end it all comes together in a perfectly coherent collection."

ALEXA CHUNG FOR AG DENIM

I have always admired Alexa Chung for her intelligence, humour and confidence. For a girl who wears many hats- model, DJ, TV presenter, author, and fashion designer, this British babe always manages to remain true to herself. This fact is evident in her new retro inspired Spring 2015 collection designed for L.A. based AG Denim. 

"I just wanted to make clothes that I would be really happy wearing. As well as making my dream skinny jeans, I wanted to make vintage-inspired jeans that felt comfortable like modern-day jeans do, taking old-school silhouettes but making sure that the modern technology that we have today would make them wearable." And big denim no-nos? "Awkward camel toes, holes in the bum or unflattering back pockets and things like that."

Alexa rocks style inspired by sixties icons such as Brigitte Bardot, Francoise Hardy, and admits to seeking the advice of the internet by Googling "Jane Birkin". Despite the french influence, she has proudly represented British style while living abroad.

"Having lived in New York for half of my twenties the only thing that I think it has served to do is make me fonder, or at least more romantic, about British dressing. I made a conscious effort when I got here not to dress like a downtown New Yorker and I made sure I had a lot cable-knit jumpers and schoolgirl skirts in my wardrobe."

For me there is a lot to love about this photo shoot- from the foliage, to the oversaturated colours, the vintage car and bike, and of course the bonafide "it girl" herself- Alexa.

KATE MOSS UNRETOUCHED FOR VOGUE ITALIA

Kate Moss is as gorgeous and fierce as always in these unretouched photos for Vogue Italia. The iconic supermodel worked with photographer Peter Lindbergh to create a stunning set of black and white photos that give a behind-the-scenes feel and a raw grainy look reminiscent of a shoot they did together in the early 90's. 

What I love about these photos (and every other photo of Kate Moss) is that when you look at them, you think, "Yup, that's Kate Moss just being Kate Moss." And now, at 41, with minimal makeup and an unretouched and unphotoshopped approach, we can really say, "Yup, that's Kate Moss,"  

It's about time this trend has taken off and started a movement. At the end of the day, don't we all just want to see the real thing?

THE NEW YEARS EVE OUTFIT

"What are you doing for New Years Eve?" If you haven't already been asked this question, get ready for it because people are starting to consider where they will be, who they will be with, and what they will be wearing when the ball drops.

THE TURTLENECK SWEATER

This winter is off to a cold start, and consequently I find myself lusting for an entirely new wardrobe consisting of a whole lot of knitwear. Thankfully the turtleneck is having a huge comeback this W14/15, offering us one more reason to crawl into wool.

And if there is anyone winning the turtleneck game (owning the style and rocking it)- it's FIGTNY. With a natural affinity for sweaters of any kind, this woman effortlessly makes a garment often not seen as cool, cool. These beautiful pictures from her blog are part of her OUTFITS series.

KNITS IN BLACK & WHITE

I found myself in a rabbit hole of cozy knits yesterday, and discovered the beauty of them being shot in black and white. The nature of black and white allows us to see the garments more graphically, and emphasizes the contrasting shapes and textures that make a beautiful knit, well, beautiful.

STREET STYLE: THE WINTER COAT

It's that time of year here in Canada- when temperatures begin to dip, we are digging out warmer shoes and boots, reminding ourselves of what toques and scarves we bought last season and getting familiar, once again, with the heavier coats in our closet. And for those of you finding your winter closet isn't meeting all your needs, don't fret. I've gathered an array of inspiration from the streets of a few fashion meccas: London, Paris and New York.
